PHOBIAS
Phobias develop when a person has an exaggerated or unrealistic sense of danger about a situation or object. Phobias are quite common – we all know someone who is afraid of flying or of spiders or heights. For some people their phobia can begin to affect their day-to-day life so that they organise their life around avoiding the situation or object that is causing them anxiety. Even thinking about the phobia can be enough to make some people feel anxious.
Common examples of phobias include:
Due to modern advances in brain-based therapy we now understand how phobias develop. Phobias stem from the subconscious, which at some time in the past was given a compelling reason to believe the object of the fear was a real threat to their safety. The reason it is difficult to overcome a phobia yourself is because it exists in the subconscious part of your mind.
‘Rewind’ is a fast and highly effective technique to help clients overcome their phobias and traumas. I use the most up-to-date technique available – the Muss Rewind Technique taught to me by Dr David Muss, of The International Association for Rewind Trauma Therapy.
Do not let your phobia restrict your day-to-day life.
"I cannot recommend Caroline enough. I had been thinking about trying hypnotherapy for a while for my fear of dogs and decided to book an appointment. From my very first session Caroline made me feel at ease, she has a very calming voice and nature and I always felt totally relaxed during her sessions. Caroline has changed my life, I can now be around dogs, be in the same room as dogs and can even see myself having my own dog in the future. Thank you so much!" GH (Plymouth)
"For many years I had a phobia of driving on certain types of roads which I realised was completely irrational. I managed the phobia for quite a while but realised that it was gradually getting worse and when it reached the stage where I felt totally unable to drive in these situations I realised I required help and contacted Caroline. Caroline was able to explain in simple terms how my brain and body were reacting and assured me I was not alone in having such problems. The sessions with Caroline were inspiring and very successful and I now have no problems driving in the same situations. Within weeks I went from feeling anxious and embarrassed by my fears to being confident and enjoying driving again" MR (Plymouth)

Common examples of phobias include:
- animal phobia – such as dogs, spiders, snakes or rodents
- environmental phobia – such as heights, deep water
- situational phobia – such as visiting the dentist or flying
- bodily phobia – such as blood, vomit
- needle phobia - there are several different types of needle phobia. Once I have talked to you and know which type of needle phobia you have, I can help you in the most effective and safest way.
